I. Love. Dread.
I really do. It’s incredible. I played for the second time tonight and it was fantastic. I love Jenga, I love role-playing, two great tastes, eh?
It got me thinking, though…
Can you make Jenga pulls “in character.” It’s hard to roll dice in character, but on some level, the Jenga mechanic allows you to pull “in character.” My character tonight was an asshole who was both self-destructive and careless. On top of that, he was disturbed by his unrequited love interest being murdered. On a couple of pulls, I actually experimented with making stupid choices. Not horrible choices, nothing that was going to send the tower toppling down, but not the best choices either. It seemed like being reckless played into the character on some level.
That’s all. Just something I thought was interesting. I want to do a topic on the cast or the blog, at some point, on what it means to be “in character,” and I’m pretty sure I can say that Dread allows you to be “in character” in a unique way.
