Episode 129: Drama!

Hosts: Megan, Todd, Timo

What did we play(5:27)
Mist-Robed Gate: Todd, Timo, Megan
Danger Patrol: Timo
Dread, Marvel Heroic: Megan
The Sword, The Crown, and the Unspeakable Power: Todd

Main topic: Drama! (28:00)
It’s easier to fall in to patterns of comedy or gratuitous, unthinking violence, but working in actual functioning drama in to a game can take a little effort. We talk a little about what we do to make that happen for us, and the problems or details of having that happen.

Rants (1:07:53)
Timo: I’m afraid to go home because P90x

is waiting for me.
Todd: I’m getting old, but I look like Justin Bieber
Megan: People playing dread practically is just weird.

Finally: Support Timo and Gina as they walk for mental health services.

  1. Peter was a great captain though. It would have been like hamsters to the slaughter-blender had he not taken one look at those melting human-things and decided to be totally and coldly rational about everything. Also, I don’t know of anyone who wouldn’t decide it was time for a different career path when the alien artifact that likely caused the whole problem to begin with started talking to one of the crew. I still like to think that we all went on to have reasonably fun jobs after he blew himself up trying to get through the debris. Haha.

  2. This was a great episode! I did want to point Megan to page OM114 and 115 in the Marvel roleplaying book. There is a rule for mobs that let’s you reduce the size of their pool rather than inflict stress to the individual elements of the mob. You could also use an area attack against a mob. For instance, Captain America could take out a whole room of d6 mooks by ricocheting his shield around the room. Just like the comics!
